Emergency unemployment benefits are a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of Americans who are suffering during the current recession and in need of emergency cash loans. Most companies aren’t hiring more employees right now which is frustrating for the government who now has to consider extending benefits. The FluidNow, or www.fluidnow.com, is a site where more than 100,000 residents of Florida who are considered to be “long-term” jobless can get extra benefits. Those unemployed persons whose claims had expired but were supposedly restarted due to an extension of benefits expected to be able to reinstate their benefits, but FluidNow has turned out to be not so fluid for some.
FluidNow can’t go fast enough
The answer you’ll get when calling fluidnow’s 800-204-2418 is a pre-recorded “call back later” message, according to an unemployed individual in Florida. Eventually the intrepid citizen reached an AWI employee who had no information on whether they’d be eligible to receive an extension of unemployment benefits. There was a little bit of a response when AWI Director Cynthia Lorenzo explained that the U.S. Department of Labor used to send guidance to the company, but those who qualified can be receiving the payments they need. Lorenzo said nobody knew when the guidance would come.
The EUC Fix – Hope for the hopeless
So many of these unemployed have to get part time jobs and take out loans to pay for everything. Some of the time it is not enough nevertheless. Plus, there’s fear that the benefits already being received would shrink upon signing up for part-time work. There could possibly be some hope with the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Fix. The emergency unemployed benefits are part of the extension that Congress passed recently, as outlined by Michigan’s MLive.com. The point is to “remove the disincentive for individuals who take part-time jobs when collecting benefits.” Benefits will extend through year two for unemployed, reports the Michigan News portal.
EUC Fix will only apply to the future
According to the National Employment Law Project, the EUC Fix is only good for those unemployed citizens with benefit years ending on or after July 22, 2010. If you aren’t in that window of opportunity, you won’t get any extra benefits. For more information on the EUC Fix, visit National Employment Law Project website.
